The Gao Yord Yant represents the 9 attributes of Buddha, Gao meaning Nine and Yord meaning the top. There is also an extension of this Yant called Yee Sib Gao Yord; Yee Sib meaning Twenty.
Gao Yord Yantra is traditionally the first Sak Yant tattoo to start with, and should be placed at the base of the neck. This type of tattoo is worn to show respect to the master also.

The Gao Yord is also known as the Yant Kru which means Master Yant. It is the most sacred Buddhist tattoo. The Nine peaks or towers of the tattoo represent the nine peaks of the mountain of the Gods, named Mount Meru (Sumeru).
Starting from the top of the sak yant, the nine spires are created by Unalome; Unalome being the name of the zigzag decorative lines at the top. Unalome represent the saints who have achieved divine status. The zigzag which develops into a straight line at the end represents the path these saints have walked. The zigzagging, wavering path develops into a straight path on the way to Nirvana. The spiral in the middle represents the crown of the head of Buddha.
Underneath the unalome there are three ovals which represent the Lord Buddha, and are a common sight across many sak yant designs.
In the middle of the tattoo is a design made up of squares. Each is a magic box which contains an abbreviation of all the protection spells this tattoo will give.
Gao Yord will protect against magic and bestows the following properties:
Maeta Ma Hah Niyom: This allows you to be treated better by others.
Klaeoklad: This protects from serious harm.
Chana Satru: This gives power to defeat your enemy.
Ma Hah Amnat: This blessing gives power and control.
